James Thomas Lovick known as "Honey" was born to Joseph and Mattie Parsley Lovick in Vanceboro, North Carolina on February 20, 1937. At a young age James lost his mother, and his father married his bonus mom, Helen Miles Lovick.
He attended Vanceboro County public schools. He was baptized at an early age. He later became an active member at Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he sang on the RMBC Male Chorus.
James had a successful trucking company J. T. Lovick Hauling for over thirty years and he loved his truck. He was a hard working man, and was always willing to lend a hand. He was a loving, kind and humble man that loved his family.
After years of being a loving father he met the love of his life, Betty "Honey." Betty was a devoted wife who was by his side to the very end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, bonus mother; sister, Annie Edwards; brother, Robert Lovett and niece, Kathy.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: wife, Betty, five children; Christopher, James, Sherri, Michelle (Ricky), and Antwan, four bonus children; Thomas, Jr., Antonio, Whitney, and Jayvon, nine grandchildren; Taneka, Chrishelle, Michael, LaShawn, Jerrell, James, La'Tasha, Danielle, and Rickey, Jr., seven bonus grandchildren; Tymier, Jacieon, Lele, Jahari, Rell, Zy, and Journi, sister; Hattie, one nephew, Ernest Edwards, Jr., three nieces; Helen, Bernice, and Nanette, brother-in-law, Thomas, sister-in-law, Mary, bonus aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; one devoted bonus uncle, Albert Trent, and friend, Micky.
God saw you Getting Tired
God knew that you were so tired, And a cure was not to be,
So, he put his arms around you. And whispered come with me.
With tearful eyes we watched And saw you pass away.
Although, we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
For in the hearts of those who love you
Your memory lives on.
Love, Honey and The Children
"Honey"
We took our vows together Said, "Till death do us part",
But when God came and took your hand My whole world Fell apart.
No one knows the heartache I try so hard to hide,
Only God knows how many times I've broken down and cried.
When I look back upon our lives One of the things that make me glad,
That you chose me to share with you The precious years we had.
