Obituary of Suzanne Kathleen Campbell
Suzanne Kathleen Campbell was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on May 14th,
1944. She always had a thirst for knowledge which enabled her to graduate high
school at 17. While in high school, she engaged in many activities such as cheerleading
and playing the trumpet and French horn in the band. Suzanne attended Virginia
State University from January of 1961 until December of 1962 where she majored
in Physics and Art. In 1973, Suzanne joined the Postal Service as an Expeditor at its
newly established Merrifield Post Office where she worked until her retirement in
August 2003. When she retired from the post office, she worked part-time at J. C.
Penney and Best Buy for a few years before retiring for good in 2010.
Suzanne raised her five children as a single mom with the help of family and
close friends. She demonstrated the values of love, learning, kindness, giving and
helping others. She was her children’s biggest supporter and was always there to lend
an ear, listen to their problems, give advice, and provide correction when needed. She
would often lend a helping hand to others even when she did not have much herself
and provided a place for people to stay who had nowhere else to go.
On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Suzanne Kathleen Campbell, age 79, passed away
surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer. She was preceded in death
by her father Wilson Hatcher, mother Sarah Virginia Hatcher, and brothers Benny
Hatcher, George Hatcher, and Robert Hatcher.

Suzanne’s life was such a rich tapestry of achievements, challenges, and moments
of joy, attempting to capture the essence of her uniqueness in words would require a
book. Her memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who cherished
her and those fortunate enough to have shared their lives with her.
