Obituary of Tommie Trent
Please share a memory of Tommie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In my father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I will go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also ~ John 14:2-3
Tommie Trent was born on July 3, 1948, to Edmund and Mattie Hopson Trent in Cumberland, Virginia.
He attended school in Cumberland County.
Tommie was a hard worker and throughout his life he held various jobs with different companies. He worked with Holly Farms catching chickens. He was a laborer for several building construction companies: building large office buildings and schools. Tommie was a handyman throughout the county, always helping people.
Tommie enjoyed cleaning and tending to his yard, cutting his grass, weed eating, trimming the hedges, and pulling weeds from around his flowers. He had a passion for painting and building stuff. Tommie was soft spoken, and always had a smile on his face. Tommie had certain people that he liked spending time with, laughing, and talking. He loved his chickens, and his rooster Jake, five cats, and his dog Max.
On Wednesday morning June 7, 2023, Tommie suddenly passed away at Centra Southside Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dock, and Dan Trent.
He leaves to cherish loving memories; his life partner, Bertha Giles; many cousins, and friends; devoted Robert Lee Carter, and Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Pfeiffer, Sr.
God called your name so softly
That only you could hear
And no-one heard the footsteps
Of angels drawing near.
It broke my heart to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of me went with you
The day God called you home.
Love Bertha
