Tyrone's Story...
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1
A time to be born: Tyrone Junius West was born on August 18, 1945 to Junius West and Elsie Hatcher.
A time to plant, grow, and pull up what is planted: Tyrone was raised by his great grandmother, "Grandma Vi". He began his education within the Cumberland County School System in Cumberland, Virginia but graduated from Forest Park High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Tyrone was recruited and employed by General Motors in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked in several different positions with the latest being a materials handler. After 33 years of devoted service, Tyrone retired from General Motors.
Tyrone touched the lives of many people whether it was lending a helping hand in any way he could, offering advice or just being there for someone. Over the years, he enjoyed several hobbies—fishing; working in his garden; finding something to take apart, repair, or build; and let's not forget him working tirelessly on and enjoying his two prized possessions—his Harley Davidson motorcycle and historic corvette.
A time to love: His family was his most valued treasure. Tyrone married Jacqueline (Jackie) Horne, and they shared over 50 years of love. Together, they raised a daughter, Sherrell.
A time to perish: Tyrone Junius West departed this life on April 20, 2023.
Tyrone leaves to cherish his memory: His wife, Jackie; daughters, Sherrell McNamara (Keith, Sr.), Cheryl West, and Karen Powell; grandchildren, Keith Jr., Kayla, Orcenio Sr., and Justin; six great grandchildren; loving and devoted cousins, Pinky Funn (Aubrey), Charmaine Taylor (William), Melissa Harris (Tony), Wanda Evans (Clyde), Vera Howard, Shirley Lipscomb, Ann Carter, and Cordell Wright; a life-long friend and brother, Douglass Cooper (Yolanda); a loving sister-in-law, Joyce West; one brother, Jerry (Michelle); loving neighbors, Keith and Susan Castelamare; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary West; and his cherished "granddog" Kobi.
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be
He wrapped his arms around you,
And whispered, "COME TO ME"
You didn't deserve what you went through
so He gave you what you needed--rest,
GOD's GARDEN must be BEAUTIFUL
HE only takes THE BEST.
