Obituary of Arlene Virginia Evans

Arlene Virginia Evans received the gift of life on November 25th, 1938. She was born in Powhatan, VA to Thomas D. Evans and Inez T. Evans. Arlene received Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined Mt. Pero Baptist Church where she remained an active member until her health failed. She enjoyed serving as a Sunday School teacher. Arlene's educational journey began in elementary school on Long Island, New York and Powhatan, Virginia. She was class valedictorian, graduating from Pocahontas High School in 1957. Following high school, Arlene entered Virginia Union College (now University) to major in business. After studying at VUU, she quickly seized an opportunity and found employment in the business world. Her first job was at the Southern Aid Insurance Company. Over the years, she worked as a secretary for several banks, and retired from the Bank of Virginia. After an extended illness Arlene peacefully completed her heavenly transition at home on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas D. and Inez T. Evans, sister, Yvonne Evans, and brother, John Durham. She leaves loving memories to be cherished by one brother; Clyde Evans (Wanda), one sister; Lois E. Townes, one sister-in law, Betty D. Durham; one nephew, Dante' Evans Sr., (Shaunda); four great nephews, Dante' Evans, Jr., Justis Evans, Jordan Tyree, and Jaylen Tyree; three great nieces, Kira Tyree, LaNya Evans, and Rayah Evans; cousins and friends. "The Broken Chain" We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. The Family Acknowledgements The family of Arlene V.
