Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live. Even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die. John 11:25-26 Robert Lee Gilliam was born March 6th, 1940, in Cartersville Virginia to Willa and Ned Gilliam. Robert accepted Christ as his personal lord and savior at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He then moved to Washington, DC to pursue his career and begin a family. Robert had a strong work ethic and desire to take care of his family that led him to his job of 25 years of service at George Washington University, as a Campus Facilities Supervisor. Robert enjoyed travelling, sports with his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys and he was very mechanically inclined. He loved dining and most of all making his friends and family laugh. Robert was well loved by his family, neighbors, and friends and will be greatly missed. Robert was called to eternal rest on July 25th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Doretha Gilliam, his father Ned Gilliam, mother Willa Gilliam, and his sister Virginia Gilliam. Robert Gilliam is survived by his two daughters LeAndrea Gilliam of Washington, DC, and Adrienne Gilliam of Waldorf, Maryland, one brother George Gilliam, sister in-law Dorthey Gilliam, two nieces Diane and Crystal Gilliam, one nephew Windell Gilliam, and a host of many cousins and relatives. If Tears Could Build A Stairway If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. We would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again. No farewell words were spoken, no time to say "Goodbye" You were gone before We knew it and only God Knows why. Our heart still aches with sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it meant to love you – No one can ever know. But now we know you want us; to mourn for you no more, To remember all the happy times life still has much in store. Since you'll never be forgotten, we pledge to you today A hollowed place within our heart is where you'll always stay. "We Love You Daddy" Adrienne & LeAndrea The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to all our family and friends for their many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy shown to us during our time of bereavement. Your thoughtfulness has been a great comfort to us. May God Bless and His Love be yours to share.
