Obituary of Eddie Thomas Crump
Please share a memory of Eddie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 16, 1959 Eddie Thomas Crump was born in Cumberland County, Virginia to the late Betty Marie Booker and Thomas Edward Crump.
At an early age he was baptized and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Cumberland, VA. Eddie attended Cumberland County Public Schools. He held numerous jobs during his lifetime. From Brick Masonry to odd jobs, he was no stranger when it came to work.
Eddie enjoyed life every day to the fullest. He was the life of the party with his contagious giggle and dance moves by James Brown. He loved to make people laugh and encouraged them to dance.
Eddie was well known in his community. He would help anyone who needed help and would give you his last dime if he thought you needed it. Those who knew him would say "we have never talked to him without him giggling or trying to make you smile."
Gone too soon. On February 19, 2021 at MCV hospital in Richmond, VA in the Critical Care Unit of Neuroscience, he departed his life here on earth. The family was heartbroken. Gone too soon, he will never be forgotten.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, and brother.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one brother, Howard Harris (Ursula); two sisters, Minnie Bolden and Emma Claytor (Clarence); one uncle, John Monroe; nine aunts, Nash Booker, Lesley Sims (James), Otelia Crump, Emma Lee Robinson (John), Dorothy May Brooks, Estelle Trent, Kate Harrell, Nancy Monroe and Florine Monroe; six nieces, Ciera Russell (Christopher), Charmaine Harris, Martika Bolden, Ericka Claytor; Phyllis Davis and Santana Crump; one nephew, Quenton Bolden; five great-nephews, Chrishaun, Christian and Calderius Russell, Kha'lell and Jarrell McMeans, Jr.; two great nieces, Shanell and Ashanti Harris; numerous cousins and his devoted friend, Jerry Hatcher.
The Master Called
I'm sorry I had to leave you.
My loved ones, also dear.
But you see, the Master called me
his voice was very clear! Come on
I had made my reservation
A heaven bound ticket for one.
And I knew that He would call me
When He felt my work was done.
I know that your hearts are heavy
Because I have gone away.
But when the Master called me,
I knew I could not stay.
Yes, I'm sorry I had to leave you
My loved ones, oh so dear.
But you see the Master called me
And now I'm resting here.
Yes, I've crossed on over to glory
And to you all I say
Just stay in the hands of Jesus
And we'll meet again someday.
