Obituary of Tom Junior Monroe
Please share a memory of Tom to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tom Junior Monroe, son of the late Gracie Langhorne Monroe and John Monroe was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on October 18, 1944.
He was converted, baptized and joined Petersville Baptist Church where he attended regularly.
Tom was a humble person in his community. Like his mother, he found much joy in raising a garden and sharing with family and friends. He was a handy man in his community, always eager to help with any task. He enjoyed watching television, fishing, and listening to gospel music. He was a self made man.
After some decline in health he resided with his niece Shirley Moseley and family. He was full of life and loved to spend time with his nephews, Chris, DeAndre and Brandon. After further illness he resided at GNT Nursing Home in Cumberland, Virginia.
On October 28, 2010 he departed this life at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blackstone, Virginia. He will be greatly missed by his community, family and friends.
He leaves to share fond memories, three sisters, Nancy Monroe, Cumberland, Va., Molly Monroe, Farmville, Va. and Florine Monroe of Maryland; one brother, John Monroe; four nieces, Dianne Monroe, Shirley Moseley (Craig), Emma Claytor and Minnie Bolden (Clayton); three nephews, Douglas Monroe (Darcy), Douglas Crump and Eddie Crump; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a lifelong friend, Joel Watson and family.
