Obituary of Nellie Mae Williams

Nellie Mae Johnson Williams, daughter of the late Hampton and Mary Eliza Boatwright Johnson was born on April 20, 1948 in Cumberland, County Virginia.
She received her education at Luther P. Jackson School in Cumberland, Virginia. At an early age she was baptized and joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In later years she joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where her membership remained. Nellie served as the President of the Senior Usher Ministry.
In 1973 she married Melvin J. Williams and to that union two children were born. Nellie was employed at The Farmville shoe Factory, Ginter Hall, Cambridge Nursing Home and Powhatan County Schools.
Nellie departed this life on Sunday afternoon March 1, 2020 at Chippenham Hospital Richmond, Virginia surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, two sisters, one brother and one nephew.
She leaves to cherish fond memories; her husband Melvin J. Williams; three sons, Lorenzo Johnson (Sharon), Steve Johnson (Cheryl), both of Richmond, Virginia and Melvin Williams (Lisa) of Farmville, Virginia; one daughter, Alicia Williams of Chesterfield, Virginia; eighteen grandchildren, Latiesha, JaVonte, Marcus, Vincent, Jr., Dante, Brian, Kevin, Amber, Kennedy, Olivia, McKayla, Ella, Maliki, Malanie, Jason, Nyla, Derick, Jr., and Valentina; one son-in-law, Vincent McFarley, Sr. of Powhatan, Virginia; one brother, Lawrence Ervin Johnson (Shirron) of Chesapeake, Virginia; one sister, Ann Mosby (Edward) of Cumberland, Virginia; three brothers-in-law, Curtis James (Drusilla), of Cumberland, Virginia, Michael Williams of Richmond, Virginia and Maurice Williams of District of Columbia; two sisters-in-law, Lisa Williams of Rice, Virginia and Leslie Jackson (Charles) of Cumberland, Virginia; four devoted friends, Mrs. Ernestine Sharpe, Mrs. Ella Gregory, Mrs. Tressa Allen and Reverend Doris Yarborough; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
