Obituary of Bennie Roosevelt Wade

Bennie Roosevelt Wade was born on June 22, 1950 in Columbia, Virginia. He was one of seven children born to Garrison and Irene Anderson Wade. On February 7, 2020 he was called to his eternal resting place. Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Alice Wade, Rebecca Wade; one brother, Robert Wade and son-in-law Rondi Jefferson. After graduating from Luther P. Jackson High School, Bennie soon began working at Morton's Frozen Food for several years before eventually becoming a Correctional Officer. He dedicated over 26 years of service at the Powhatan Correctional Center before retiring. He was baptized at an early age and joined Pleasant View Baptist Church. He served numerous years on the Board of Trustees and was actively involved in his church and his community. He loved his family and spending time with them. Bennie was known for providing lawn service, bush hogging, and hauling services such as gravels and firewood throughout the community. He loved his old cars, trucks, and helping others as well. Bennie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of over 40 years (Naomi); two daughters, Angela Jefferson (A) and Sophia Bland (Fe); one son, John R. Bland, Jr (JB), ten grandchildren; one devoted Travis Jefferson; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Garrison Leroy Wade and John Edward Wade (Minnie); one sister, Janie Fannings; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
