Obituary
Obituary of Lillie Alma Brown
Please share a memory of Lillie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Lillie Alma Brown, daughter of the late Lelia Adkins Langhorne and George Langhorne was born June 8, 1929 in Cumberland County, Virginia.
At an early age she was converted, baptized and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church where her membership remained. There she served on the Senior Choir Ministry, Prayer and Praise Ministry and the Pastors Aid Ministry.
On January 14, 1948 she was joined in wedlock to Eddie Douglas Brown. To this union five children were born.
Lillie was employed with Larry Dickerson's Cleaning business for many years. She was later employed in Richmond, Virginia doing domestic work.
Alma always had a smile on her face. She lived a quiet life, always willing to help anyone she could. She loved her family and her friends. She also loved the outdoors and especially planting flowers, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three children, James, Ann and Leroy Brown.
On Saturday, October 12, 2019 she peacefully entered into eternal rest at her residence in Cumberland.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Kenny Brown; two daughters, Sandra Steele (MacArthur) and Lelia Trent (Gerry); ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Cecelia Brown and Christine Brown; two brothers-in-law, Carl Brown and Russell Brown; three sisters-in-law; Doris Brown, Camoria Brown and Pattie Langhorne; numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A limb has fallen from the family tree,
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me"
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I'll miss you dearly, so keep up your chin
Until the day comes, we're together again.
