Obituary of Helen R Brown

Ms. Helen Brown was born on November 16, 1917 to the late Charlie and Gertrude Green Risper in Mobile, Alabama. To this union she was the 3rd oldest of 14 children. Ms. Helen was reared in Mobile, Alabama and was educated in Mobile School System, four years later Ms. Brown was united in Holy Matrimony to Clinton Brown and was married for numerous years. There were no children from this union, but she enjoyed her nieces, nephews and cousins. Ms. Helen left Mobile, Alabama and relocated to Queens, NY for employment. She worked as a housekeeper and nanny for many years and enjoyed her work. She retired in the year of 1987 and relocated to Powhatan, Virginia with her companion of 32 years (Henry R. Goode). Ms. Helen loved the Lord and attended Worship Services at Envoy at The Meadows every Sunday. She was a quiet person and always treated people kindly and lovingly and would receive the same in return. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking, taking care of animals, painting, senior connections programs and gospel music. Ms. Helen Brown departed this life on May 1, 2019 at the Envoy at The Meadows in Goochland, Virginia. Ms. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers, Leroy, Clarence, Sylvester, Lawrence, Albert, Lewis and McDonald; six sisters, Corrin, Margaret, Pearl, Elizabeth, Louris and Jonnie. Ms. Helen leaves to cherish her memory: three nieces from Chicago, Mavis, Mildred and Myrtice; one nephew, Michael (Lena); one niece, Nina Gordon (Kenneth) from Mobile, Alabama; Cathy Irby and Durant from California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. When I come to the end of the road. And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me but let me go. For the journey we all must take and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to Home".
