Obituary
Obituary of Wardell Marshall Nash,
Please share a memory of Wardell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wardell "Wahoo/Frug" Marshall Nash Sr., son of the late Ernest and Annie Nash was born April 21, 1939 in Powhatan, Virginia. He entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Henrico, Virginia surrounded by his family.
He was reared in a loving home with six siblings, two of whom preceded him in death; one brother, George Nash and one sister, Josephine Phillips and two sisters-in-law, Diane and Lula Nash.
At an early age, Wardell was converted, baptized and joined Hollywood Baptist Church where he remained a member until his passing. He attended Powhatan County Public Schools. He was joined in marriage to Catherine (Dottie) Mitchell on November 20, 1960, who preceded him in death.
Wardell retired from Phillip Morris after 20 years of service. During his "retirement" he took up many different jobs to generate revenue, if you knew Wardell you would know that he didn't like to sit still. When he wasn't working or spending time with his family, he would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He loved to cook, it was no hard task for him to make something out of nothing and he loved to fish. He always had a smile on his face, and to know him was to love him. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his two daughters, Sharon Edwards (Thomas), and Corrine Owens (John); three sons, Wardell Nash Jr., Steven Nash, and Jamar Hatcher (Mary); nine grandchildren, Shaun Nash (Jakia), Reggie Edwards, Alisha Jackson, Tyree Nash, Rakeem Prosise, Dylan Newman, Arianna Hatcher and Jazmine Parrish, Justin Garrant; four great-grandchildren, Kellen Nash, Kerrigan Nash, LaNiyah Moomau and Anias King; two sisters, Geraldine Phillips (June), Lynnette Taylor (Roger); two brothers, Willie Nash (Rosa) and Harold Nash (Gail); one great uncle Lee Brown; one great aunt Jacqueline Brown; one brother-in-law Alvah Mitchell (Linda); devoted friends Iris Funn, Raymond Scott, and Marcus Woodley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
