Obituary of Eva Langhorne
Eva Langhorne of Cumberland, Virginia was peacefully called home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 8, 1934, one of eleven children born to the late Mary Elizabeth Crump Trent and Walter James Trent leaving behind four siblings from this group. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Cumberland, Virginia. Later in life she became a devoted member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Usher Board. She attended Cedar Fork School. She was a dependable worker for Cumberland Restaurant as a cook, Cumberland School System in the cafeteria and she eventually retired from Stackpole Incorporated in Farmville, Virginia after many years of employment.
After retirement Eva devoted her life to caring for her relatives during their time of need. She was the primary caregiver for her father, mother, two sisters and a close friend when they were ill until they went on home to the Lord.
Eva had a good spirit, she enjoyed life and whenever anyone was around her, she found a way to make them laugh. She enjoyed going to church, cooking and playing bingo. She was always a very stylish woman who loved to look her best. You would never see her out in town without her beautiful jewelry, make up, and "jazzy" clothing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Langhorne; five sisters, one brother; and a devoted friend Edward "Bro" Carter. She is survived by three sisters, Marion Phelps of Cumberland, Virginia, Ada Langhorne of Cumberland, Virginia, Shirley Lee of Ashburn, Virginia, Albert Trent of Cumberland, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law; She has left behind to cherish her memory many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Special thanks to her niece Betty Jones and sister Ada Langhorne who cared for her when her health declined. She was loved dearly by her sisters and brother who loved spending time with her during her time of need. She had four devoted friends Alice Trent, Almo Brown, Claudette Trent and a sister-in-law Nash Booker who will miss her dearly. She considered Everleane Randolph as her very own child and cared a great deal for her.
Your life was a blessing to all of us that we will always treasure. You were strong, full of spirit and always spoke your mind. For that we thank you for showing us how to be our best and stand our ground when necessary. We know it was your time to leave us, but we also know that your life was meaningful and well lived. We treasure the time we had to spend with you and will always hold your memory in our hearts. We love and miss you very much Aunt Eva.
