Obituary of Susie Langhorne
Please share a memory of Susie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Susie E. Langhorne daughter of the late Nathaniel and "Lumpsey" Epps was born in Cumberland County on May 25, 1925.
At an early age she was converted baptized and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church where she served on the Planning and Pastor's Aide Ministries, President of the Senior Usher Ministry and sang on the Senior Choir. She was also a member of The Unlimited 6. She was even a Pioneer for the NAACP, March of Dimes, and The American Heart Association.
She attended Cumberland County Public Schools. Susie was employed at Stack Pole, in Farmville, VA as well as Cumberland County Public School, and later worked as a companion for many years.
In the year of 1944 she was joined in wedlock to Mr. Richard Langhorne and from this union six children were born.
Susie was a loving outgoing person who loved baseball and greeting people with a smile. She was a stylish lady who loved wearing her hats. She always said, "If I can help someone along the way then my living won't be in vain." She reared her children in a Christian home and no matter the hour she would always sing praises to God.
On Friday, October 26, 2018 she departed this life at home in Cumberland, VA to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Maple Pervall; five sons, Walter Langhorne, Lester Langhorne, George Langhorne (Mary), Wayne Langhorne, and Charles Langhorne; sixteen grandchildren of whom two are deceased Corey Pervall and Jamar Scruggs; fourteen great- grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; a sister, Nora Emma Ricks;
