Deacon Robert Lee Crump, 80 of Cartersville entered, into eternal life peacefully, embraced by his devoted family on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his home. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Deacon Edmund Crump and Louise Brown Crump; Sister, Constance Sims; brother, James Edward Perkins.
Robert was born July 30, 1937 in Cumberland. He attended the New Hope School in Cartersville and accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church. Robert married Estelle Jones on February 23, 1958. He was unwavering in his love and dedication to his wife and six children. He was equally known for his firm authority as much as the easy-going smile that transformed his stern expression.
Robert enjoyed traveling and driving. His sense of adventure was best shown during his annual family trips to Florida. Throughout his life, he had a direct impact and influence on countless number of people ranging from a brief chat to welcomed transportation throughout the area.
Robert retired from a steadfast 32- year career with Massey Builder's Supply. He was called to the Church and was ordained a Deacon on May 23, 2010. Spiritually devoted, Robert was faithful in his duties and provided prayers of sincerity and hope. He dedicated his life in service others. As an active member of New Hope, he served as a Deacon, a Trustee and a member of the Men's Choir.
In addition to Estelle, his caring wife of 60 years, he is survived by his three son; Robert Crump, Jr. (Pam), Samuel Crump, Tyrone Crump (Tasha); three daughters, Shirley Bolling (Russell), Estelle V. Crump, Kathy Hatcher (Lonnie); 20 Grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; seven brothers, James (Carrie), Charles, Spencer (Barbara), Ernest, Joseph, Aaron (Sheila), and Ulysses; one sister, Katherine Bolling (Sam); one aunt, Carrie Brown; one brother-in-law; Willie Jones (Catherine); one sister-in-law, Ida Jones; many other dear relatives; and friends.
