Obituary of Inez Scruggs

Inez Scruggs entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Inez was born on September 21, 1922 in Powhatan County to Lula Hughes Stovall and Harrison Stovall. She was converted at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Powhatan at an early age. She attended Powhatan County Schools. Inez was a loving and caring mother and wife. She was very dedicated to her family and loved by many. Inez was employed by Powhatan County School (Pocahontas) as a cafeteria worker for several years; she also performed domestic work within the county. Her passion was caring for children of all ages. On June 22, 1948 she was joined in holy matrimony to Robert Louis Scruggs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Louis Scruggs; grandson, Timothy V. Jackson; brother, Samuel Stovall; and sister, Isabell Stovall Jackson. Inez leaves fond memories to be cherished by her four devoted children, Lula Clarke (Richard), Robert Louis "Bobby" Scruggs, Jr., Ruth "Cookie" Jackson, and Malcolm Quinton Scruggs (Annette); seven grandchildren, Torri (Toney), Michael, Ashley, Robert L. III (Dione), LaTanya, LaShaundra, and Adrian; eight greatgrandchildren, D'Angelo, Timothy (TJ), Christian, Chirelle, Mikel, Jackson, Jacob, and Alantis Cox; six sisters-in-law, Mabel, Bernice, Helen, Georgiana (Willie), MaryJane Scruggs, and Mary Scruggs; two brothers-in-law, James Scruggs (Frances) and Wallace Scruggs; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Her home companions were her two birds, "Joy" and "Teardrop."
