Obituary of Lemon Booker

Lemon Mack Booker was born in Cumberland County Virginia on May 22, 1930 to the late Morris Mack, Sr and Nannie Harris Mack. She attended Cedar Fork School. At an early age she was baptized and joined Center Union Baptist Church of Cumberland, Virginia where she served on the choir ministry. There she felt right at home singing and shouting for the Lord for over 40 years. In 1946 she was joined in wedlock to Richard Lee Booker from this union eight children were born. Lemon was a very pleasant and humble servant who loved God. She greeted everyone she met with kindness and her warm smile. She loved going to church and spending time with her family; every time you saw her, she was always with her daughter. She loved church, flowers, cooking, shopping and traveling. She was employed at Cumberland Elementary School in the cafeteria for 17 years from which she retired in 1981. Sunday, January 28, 2018 she peacefully departed this life at Johnston Willis Hospital in Midlothian, VA to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee Booker; four children, Simon Lee Booker, Junius Booker, Lonnie Booker, and Roberta Trent. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Gregory Booker (Judy), Morris Booker (Linda), Lovella Trent, and Tangerine Booker;13 grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-laws, Pearl Booker and Dorothy Booker of Riverhead, NY; one son-in-law, Lee Miles Trent of Riverhead, NY; three sisters-in-law, Ada Lee Booker, Martha Jane Booker and Louise Mack; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work and play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that place at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much; Good friends, good time, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seems all to brief; Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart, and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free! Love, The Family
