Obituary of James E. Robinson

James Edward Robinson, Sr. entered into eternal rest early Sunday morning May 22, 2016. He was born October 19, 1937 in Powhatan, Va to the late Annie Mae Robinson.
James was reared in Powhatan, Va and attended Loganville School in Trenholm, Va. At an early age, he was baptized and joined Little Zion Baptist Church in Powhatan, Va where his membership remains.
"Big Jim," as he was affectionately known was employed at Bethlehem Steel, Powhatan Locker Plant and then became self employed as a logger. On June 11, 1960, he married Fannie Harris from this union 4 children were born. James loved many things. In his 30's, he played baseball with the Powhatan All-Stars as a left outfielder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His biggest catch he took pride in was when he killed and mounted an albino deer. He raised, butchered and cured hogs. James was known for his hams and sausage. He raised a garden and loved spending time with his family. He has touched so many lives during his lifetime.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Fannie; 3 daughters, Angela Booker (Larry, Sr.), Laverne Robinson and Valerie Ayers (James); 1 son, James Robinson, Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Larry Booker, Jr., Deyjah Robinson, Alisha Ayers and Jamie Lewis; 2 great grandchildren; D'Vitri Jackson and Tairi Jackson; 3 devoted sisters, Rosa Jackson, Elaine Jackson James, and Audrey "Ann" Jackson; 1 devoted brother, Linwood Jackson; 1 aunt, Mary Royall; devoted sister-in-law, Margerite H. Mason; a host of nieces and nephews, 3 devoted, Walter Jackson, Jr., James Jackson,Sr. and Calvin Jackson; cousins, 7 devoted, Vernell Garris, Ricky Jackson, Mitchell Taylor, Minnie & Bruce Tate and Alex & Mary Jackson; a host of friends, several devoted, Gary Martin, Robert "Buddy" Martin, Chip Martin, Theodore Dabney, Ernest Dabney, David Newman, Paul Boley, Bobby Jones, P.T. Sheff, Jimmy Booker, James Jackson and Frank Tyler.
