Obituary of Luerine Elizabeth Allen

Luerine E. Allen, "Nana" or "Granny" as she was called by many was born in Cumberland, Virginia on February 15, 1942 to the late Andrew and Bertha Goff Langhorne. She was one of ten children- three girls and seven boys.
Luerine accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Cumberland, Virginia. On December 24, 1957 she was united in marriage to Willie Allen in Cumberland, Virginia. She and her husband moved to Riverhead, NY in 1957 where she worked until retirement. While in Riverhead she became a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served faithfully until August of 1997 when her and her family moved to North Chesterfield, Virginia. In 1998 Luerine rejoined Rocky Mount Baptist Church, where she served on the Pastor Aide Ministry until her passing.
Luerine loved being with family and friends. Whenever you would see her, she had a smile on her face. She had a gentle spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need. She always had a joke or something to say that would make you laugh. She was admired by many. Luerine loved attending anything that had to do with her grandchildren.
Luerine was called to eternal rest at St. Mary's Hospital on February 6, 2016. She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Hale and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, James (Charlotte), Garfield, Russell (Sarah) and Robert Langhorne (Ruby) and brother-in-law, Herbert Harris
Luerine leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband of 58 years, Willie; son, Willie, Jr. (Kim); daughter, Crystal; two adopted sons, Caesar (Jasmine) and Roberto (Latonia); seven granddaughters, Shonda, Kiara, Shanice, Kyla, Amaya, Sara and Anastasia; four grandson, Caesar, Jr., Jordan, Joel and Elijah; two great grandchildren, Nuriyah and Isiah ; three others that she thought of as grandchildren, Travis Brown, Jr., Aidan Frasier and Armoni Robertson; three goddaughters, Rosa Palmore (Anthony), Keisha Dean (Jimmy) and Tameka Chandler-Liggons (Omar); three brothers, Tom (Betty), Bernard (Liz) and Sherman Langhorne (Rose); one sister, Annie Lee Harris; one aunt, Alma Brown; one uncle, Levi Langhorne; two brothers-in-law, Harrison (Jean) and Robert Allen (Tressie); three sisters-in-law, Mary Langhorne, Lucy Brown (Elmo) and Francis Scruggs (James) along with a host of nieces, two devoted, Angela Allen-Haule and April Armstead; nephews, one devoted, Greg Langhorne, cousins and friends.
