Obituary of Austin Ernest Brumskill

Austin Ernest Brumskill was called home on December 27, 2015 in Powhatan, Virginia at the age of 70. He was born in Cumberland, Virginia on July 24, 1945. At an early age he turned his life over to Christ and joined Center Union Baptist Church where he would attend for the remainder of his life. He served faithfully as Trustee then eventually Deacon for the church.
Austin graduated from Luther P. Jackson High school and went on to work as a truck driver for Phillip Morris where he retired after thirty years. In retirement, he drove the school bus for Cumberland County schools, Winn Bus Lines, Groome Transportation and the YMCA Y-Camp. He also drove trucks for DTI Trucking Company.
Austin enjoyed restoring cars, fishing and traveling. He was known as a jack of all trades, able to fix and build anything his mind could imagine.
Austin was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Brumskill, his father, Lewis Brumskill, and his brother Lewis Brumskill.
Austin is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Frances Brumskill. They were married in Richmond, Virginia on September 12, 1998.
Austin is lovingly remembered by his sons, Terry Brumskill (Catherine) and Xzavia Brumskill; daughters, Sheri Jones (William) and Ranee Brumskill; stepdaughters, Verna Couto (William) and Dawn Blair; devoted great-grandson, Damarques Newman; a host of grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law, Flossie James; brother-in-law, Chris James; Sisters-in-law, Florence Washington, Karen Cordell (Marvin), and Kim Royall (Danny); devoted friends, Deacon Ernest Booker and Toney Webster.
