Obituary of Yvonne Jawarn Evans

Yvonne Jawarn Evans was born on December 4, 1941 in Powhatan, Virginia to Thomas David and Inez Towne Evans. She attended Pocahontas Elementary School in Powhatan, VA and Hampton School for the Blind in Hampton, Virginia. Yvonne received Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined Mt. Pero Baptist Church where she remained an active member until her health failed. She participated in the Young Adult Community Choir organized by the late Mrs. Ella Foxx. After Mrs. Foxx's demise, the name of the choir was changed to the Ella Foxx Memorial Choir. Hester Foxx Myers, Mrs. Foxx's daughter, was very instrumental in helping Yvonne sing solos at their annual Foxx Family Programs which is held each year in June. Yvonne's favorite solo was "Reach Down" . As a master of showing you love and an intense listener, Yvonne would meet no stranger. Her passing is a loss to many, but she will be remembered for loving the best that life had to offer. On Tuesday, May 19, 2015 Yvonne departed this life at Laurels of Bon Air in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded by her parents, beloved nephew, Terrance Clyde Evans and beloved niece, Jawarn Inez Townes Tyree. She leaves her memories to be cherished by two brothers, John Durham (B. Jean) and Clyde Evans (Wanda); two sisters, Arlene Evans and Lois Townes (Clifton); three aunts, Vernice Mayo, Georgia Mayo, and Almeade T. Francis; 1 nephew, Donte' Evans (Rubyaida); six great nieces and nephews, Jordan, Kia and Jaylen Tyree, Justis, LaNya and Donte' Evans, Jr. along with numerous cousins and friends.
