Obituary of Ida Mae Brooks

Ida Mae Booker Brooks was born September 25, 1935 in Cumberland County, Virginia to the late William and Evelyn Brackett Booker. Ida was baptized into the fellowship of the Pleasant View Baptist Church at an early age. She attended Flat Rock School in Columbia, Virginia. In 1965 she married Edward Brooks and from that union three daughters were born. Ida was a home maker who enjoyed planting flowers and canning vegetables and fruits. But most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. On Friday, April 17, 2015 she departed this life in Richmond, Virginia. Ida was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edward Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Brenda Johnson, Barbara Bland and Bertha Brooks; one step-daughter, Mary Henderson (two that she reared as her own), Cherlene Scott and Bobby Scott; five grandchildren, Maurice Brooks, Tina Dixon, Angela Brooks, Marquise Brooks and Earl Henderson, Jr; five great grandchildren; two brothers, George Booker and Leroy Booker (Mary Ann); three brothers-in-law, Thomas Brooks, Carl Brooks, Rufus Brooks; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
