Obituary of Carl Franklin Jefferson

Carl Franklin Jefferson, Jr. was born July 19, 1942 in Cartersville, Virginia to the late Carl F. Jefferson, Sr. and Geraldine Jenkins Jefferson. He joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at an early age. He attended schools in Cumberland County. Before moving to New Jersey, Carl drove tractor/trailer for many years. While living in New Jersey he worked for PSEG. Upon his return to Virginia in October 2001, Carl loved helping others. He enjoyed carpentry work but most of all he planting vegetable garden was his true passion. He would always say "Ilove to see things grow". Carl was known as "Poppa" to Nasir, whom he called "Lil Mac" his best little buddy, Na'londa and Tayanna. To his friends he was known as "Jeff". He had several devoted friends, Cecil Austin, Gabriel Trent, Jr., Ulysses Crump, Ernest MacDonald and Clayton Fusseymore, Jr. Carl departed this life on March 11, 2015 at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, VA after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter and Thomas Jefferson and the family pet "Pepper". He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Alice; two sons, Roger Jefferson (Gwen) and Anthony Jefferson (Debra); one daughter, Patrice Jefferson; three step-children, Kevin West (Pat), LaVonda Henderson, and Darryl Bradley (Courtney); fifteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Verna Mahan; two aunts, Carrie Cartwright and Leona Pereira along with a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
