Obituary of Harris Jasper Brown

Reverend Harris Jasper Brown, a son of the late Daniel and Kate Hampton Brown, was born in Cartersville, Virginia in the county of Cumberland on April 22, 1918.
Harris Brown was also educated at the New Hope School in Cartersville. At an early age he was baptized and joined the New Hope Baptist Church. He also sung quartet with the Gospel Four of Cartersville and he later became a minister under the leadership of Rev. Evans.
Mr. Brown worked various jobs such as local film acting with a traveling carnival, truck driver for C.A. Stonnell and at the University of Richmond. He later obtained employment at the Cumberland County Public Schools as a bus driver and a custodian where he later retired.
Harris Brown later joined in wedlock to Ida Marie Crump. He later moved his membership to Rocky Mount Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Prince where he was a member of the missionary ministry.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2015, he departed this life at his home in a tragic house fire. He was preceded in death by his wife, a stepdaughter, Ida Mae Motley and a stepson, Donald W. Minter.
He leaves to cherish fond memories; his daughter, Roberta Richardson; one son, Sam Jones; two stepsons, Clyde Minter (Annie) and George L. Crump; ten grandsons, one devoted, Jeffrey Minter (Salina); fourteen granddaughters; six sisters-in-law, Estelle Trent, Dorothy May Brooks, Lee Robinson, Kate Harrell, Pearl Crump and Mary Brown; brother- in- law, McKinley Crump (Otelia) along with a host of nieces, one devoted, Marian Friend, nephews, cousins and friends.»(Do not delete this line.
