Peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2010, Albert Elliot Royal slipped away in his bed. He was born to Norman Royal and Pearl Morris Royal on May 27, 1911 in Lunenburg, VA. He was reared by Pearl and Jake Morris after the death of Norman Royal.
Albert was baptized at an early age at Mount Zion Baptist Church of Powhatan and remained a faithful member until his illness. He attended Logansville School then worked at Belmeade before moving to Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Albert worked for Roselle, Frederey and Meyers in Elizabeth, New Jersey for thirty-two years as a foreman until his retirement in May 1976 when he moved to Powhatan.
Albert married Annabelle Morris in the mid 60's and was a wonderful father to their two daughters. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, raising a neighborhood garden and educating all of his grandchildren. They lovingly referred to him as "Papa". He was a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Annabelle and three sisters, Mary Brown, Anna Hobson and Beatrice Price.
He leaves his powerful legacy to his two daughters, Pamela Cousins and Barbara Cater; four grandchildren, Kisha Crayton, Earl Foreman, Jr., Taurean Cousins, Aaron Cousins; four great-grandchildren, Dystany Muse, Jordan Booker, Terriah Crayton, and Darius Owens; two brothers-in-law, Carl Morris and Elton Morris; one sister-in-law, Helen Morris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A devoted niece and caregiver, Wilnett Scott.
