Lillian Renee Sims Smith known by many as "CHUBBY" was born on November 17, 1959 to the late Howard Elmore Sims and Queen Victoria Coy Sims in Cumberland, Virginia.
At an early age Lilian was baptized and became a member of the Tearwallet Baptist Church. She attended Cumberland County Public School and graduated in 1978. She then attended St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia, where she met and married her soul mate Marvin Smith. After college, she accompanied her husband Marvin who joined The United States Army. During their 24 years of services, she had the opportunity to travel to many places. She traveled to California, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas, Alaska, Florida and Germany twice. In 1985, a son was born to this union, Brandon. In 1998, she earned her Child Development Associate Degree. In 2004, her Husband retired from the Military and they returned back to Cumberland, Virginia. In 2004, she began employment with Cumberland County Public School System as an Instructional Aid and Paraprofessional. She enjoyed assisting in the development of children and loved her work. She was loved by many. She had a given heart. She always told you what you didn't want to hear by speaking her mind. Chubby loved her family and especially her son Brandon. She was a devoted wife, mother and Aunt.
She departed this life on March 23, 2014 in Richmond, Virginia.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Marvin Smith; her son, Brandon Smith; one, brother , Howard Sims (Dorothy); two sisters, Shirley Webb (Clarence) and Caroline Johnson (John); one brother -in-law, Edward "Tony" Smith (Myra); two sisters -in- law, Edna Sims and Evelyn Sims; two Aunts, Neater Sims and Lillian Shelton. In addition, a host of nieces, one devoted, Dorothy West-Nelson; nephews, one devoted, Karl Jackson; cousins and friends; two devoted Barbara Lee and Lucy Barley.
