'MOMMY'S PRINCESS' Dakota Danielle Blanton The trumpet sounded and roll was called. on be July 29.2013 Angels came down and carried Dakota Danielle Blanton home to be with the Lord. The granddaughter of the late Wilhelmenia D. Washington, Doris & Baker Blanton. Dakota was educated in the Cumberland County school system. As a member of the gifted and talented program she completed 5 summers at Longwood College. Also gifted in arts and crafts, Dakota had works of art on display at Cumberland high school and Longwood University. She was a member of the track and field team, JROTC program, cheerleading team, softball team and Pulsar club. Upon graduating, May 2012 from Cumberland County high school with honors in academic achievement along with certification in general studies from Southside VA Community College. Dakota entered an internship for physical therapy at Tidewater Physical therapy of Powhatan VA while obtaining employment with Domino's pizza. Receiving scholarship funding with acceptance to Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. Dakota completed her first year as a sophomore spring 2013. Excelling at sports and martial arts, Dakota's sportsmanship allowed her to advance in various tournaments, break school records and win multiple awards. She became a member of the SC karate team in 2005 under Master Elliot and Master Sherman. She held the # I spot on the Virginia Karate Association. in her division and placed 3Td at the 2007 Super Grand Internationals for her division. She was currently employed at Kroger's & McDonalds. Even with all these achievements. Dakota was still a loving, kind, giving, humble person who loved animals & had the ability to help make others feel good about themselves. Her light left an eternal shine on everyone she knew. To hold her memory and reflect her light, she leaves her mother - Lisa A. Washington; father - Issac L. Blanton Sr.; brother - Issac L. Blanton Jr.; grandfather - James E. Thornton and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends from far and near to cherish her memory for years and years.
