Obituary of Theodore Roosevelt Harrison
Please share a memory of Theodore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theodore was born in Powhatan, Virginia on March 23, 1948 to Walter Raleigh and Jessie Harris Harrison. He was baptized and joined the Mount Calvary Baptist Church at an early age. Theodore attended Powhatan County Schools.
Theodore was employed by the Lee-Hy Paving Corporation as a steam roller operator. His career span with the company was more than 30 years. He took great pride in his work, always arriving to the job on time or early. Theodore was very dedicated, enjoyed working and never had a complaint although the job sometimes required him to stay overnight at the location where the crew was assigned to work.
Everyone who knew Theodore, knew he was a big man. He spoke with a deep husky voice and always had something to say that made you laugh or shake your head. Theodore was known by several names; Ted, Big Red, Theo, or Teddy. It didn't matter which name he was called by, he always answered.
On Thursday, May 23, 2013 our Heavenly Father sent the angel of mercy to Theodore's room at Henrico Doctor's Hospital and whispered, "Come unto me and I will give you rest." He left peacefully leaving all burdens and cares behind. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Jerry and Edward.
Happy memories will always be remembered by loving friends, relatives, and family members: fiver sisters; Doris Parker (Melvin), Diane Jackson (Lawrence), Versene Wiley (Percy), Gale Lewis (Clarence), and Connie Goode; one uncle, Edward Harrison (Shirley) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; one special cousin, Ruth Johnson; along with a host of friends; two devoted, Chris Langhorne and Craig Austin.
