Obituary of Ryelander Kempton Lewis

Ryelander Kempton Lewis was born in Accomack County, Virginia on March 28, 1933 to Lloyd and Alberta Brown Lewis. He later moved to Baltimore, Maryland; where he attended Douglas High School. Boxing was the one hobby that he enjoyed during his younger days. At the age of 16 Ryelander confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. In 1981, he became a minister and went on to minister at the New Saint James Church in Baltimore. Maryland. Ryelander was a man that loved the Lord and found great pleasure in talking about the goodness of Jesus. In 2000 Ryelander and Ora Bell moved to Cumberland County, Virginia. On April 10, 2000 Ryelander and Ora Bell was joined in Holy Matrimony. For a short while they worship at Center Union Baptist Church and later became members of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Rev. Lewis as he was called by his Rocky Mount Church family; always had a smile, a kind word and a joke to tell. He served faithful at Rocky Mount until his health began to decline. On Thursday, March 21, 2013 Rev. Lewis departed this life at Centura Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Ora Bell; 1 daughter, Janet Lewis; 3 step daughters, Shirley Richardson (Nathaniel), Carolyn Davis (Calvin), and Tawanda Arrington (Melvin); 2 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; 1 brother, Lloyd Lewis, Jr. (Marcissus); 1 sister, Rev. Christine Hollis; 1 sister-in-law, Elise Langhorne (John); a number of nieces, one devoted, Hilda Free, nephews, cousins and friends, several devoted, Deacon Tom & Deaconess Virgie Brooks, Rev. Alvin Witcher, Jr., and Deacon Robert & Deaconess Jimmy Brown.
