Lucy V. Mosby was born September 19, 1916 in Cumberland County, Virginia to Deacon Turner and Lenora Robertson Coleman.
At an early age she was converted baptized and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Lucy served on the Choir Ministry and the Missionary Ministry.
She attended Cumberland Public Schools.
Lucy was joined in wedlock to Major Mosby on March 27, 1937. From this union five children were born.
Lucy was a loving and caring mother who taught her children to do their best, work hard and do the right thing. She made sure they attended Sunday School and church. Lucy cared for many family members during her life.
She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive until her health failed. She lived with her daughter Lucy Coles (Leroy) where she was well cared for many years.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2013 she departed this life at Woodland's in Farmville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Hiawatha Coleman, a sister Carrie Miller; 2 daughters, Sally Mosby and Ida Goffin.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Lenora Alston and Lucy Coles; one son, Elmus Mosby; one daughter-in-law, Betty Mosby; three sons-in-law, Joel Alston, Leroy Coles, and Carl Goffin; nine grandchildren, Joel, Jenene, and Jerrel Alston, Shontrice Winn (Henry), Elmus Mosby, Jr. (Adikie), Leroy Coles III, Kwame, Brianna, and Asia Goffin; four great grandchildren, Jarrett and Jordan Mosby, Kwame, Jr., Elijah and Mya Coles; one special niece, Dorothy Brown (Eugene); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
