Howard " Dickie" Riddle, son of Minnie Riddle Malloy, grandson of Arthur Sr. and Viola Norvelle Riddle was born on November 25, 1934 in Cumberland, Virginia.
At an early age he was converted, baptized and joined Pleasant View Baptist Church where his membership remained. He was an active member of the Trustee Board and a faithful worker in the church. He was essential in remodeling the basement and installed the baptism pool and first sound system.
In 1952 Howard met the love if his life, Miss Annie Christine Mayo of Cumberland, Virginia. They were joined in wedlock on October 2, 1958. From this union ten children were born, two preceded in death, Viola May Scott and Arthur H. Riddle, Jr.
"Dickie" as he was affectionately known, was employed by P.L. Duncan in his early years. Later, he took employment with the University of Richmond until 1970 when he retired due to a back injury. Dickie was an outgoing person. He loved to cook, build, repair, do yard work, and garden. He was loving, caring, protective, very giving, and a wonderful provider that always spoke his mind.
He leaves to cherish his memory to; his loving wife of 55 years, Annie Mayo Riddle, seven daughters, Kathleen Riddle, Joyce Coles (Alex), Patricia Riddle, Barbara Johnson (Kenneth), Deborah Graves (George), Connie Brown (Marvin), and Marjorie Riddle, all of Columbia, Virginia; one son, Tony Riddle (Willetta) of Columbia, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Randy Scott , Jr., Crystal Riddle (Eric), Howard Riddle, III, Natasha Johnson, Shante Coles, Alexis Coles, Toni Riddle, Nicole Riddle, Jeonda Anderson, and Alicia Riddle. Four great grandchildren, Eric Hairston, Jr., Vydey Scott, Iya'an & Jahaad (JoJo) Hairston; one sister, Antonia Bing of New York. One devoted aunt, Kathleen Norvelle. Three brothers-in-law, Paul Tanner (Mary), Earl Mayo (Dorothy) and George Mayo. Two sisters-in-law, Gracie Brown and Mary Virginia Henderson. A devoted cousin, Yvonne Taylor Lewis; devoted family friend, Katherine Branch; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones and friends.
