Melvin Samuel Goode, son of William and Margaret Lewis- Goode was born on January 1, 1943 in Connecticut. He was educated in the Connecticut public school system. Melvin accepted Christ at an early age.
Melvin moved to Riverhead, Long Island New York where he met and married Catherine Victoria Jackson. Melvin and Catherine relocated to Powhatan, Virginia where they continued to raise their family.
Melvin's occupations included: construction work, duck farming, truck driver, and custodial work.
Melvin was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Powhatan. Melvin loved to hunt, fish, and listen to gospel music. He had a passion for fixing and restoring tractors and lawnmowers. He was a great handyman to anyone who needed something fixed and to anyone who happened to break down on route 60 and needed help.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, William Goode; mother, Margaret Lewis-Goode; sister, Diantha Goode; and wife, Catherine Jackson-Goode.
Melvin leaves to cherish fond memories; loving companion of 18 years, Marquita Goode; a son, Christopher Jackson, Sr.; daughters, Cynthia Goode, Margaret Coghill (Alvin), Roneisha Goode; four grandchildren, Christopher Jackson, Jr., Kani Jackson, Kania Jackson, and Catherine Branch; two step grandchildren, La'barbara Fuller, and Emani Coghill; four brothers-in-law, Vincent Jackson (Gail),
Edward Jackson, Everette Jackson, and Leon Jackson (Robin); five sisters-in-law, Naomi Perkins (Frank), Mary Jackson, Eloise Lopez, Lula Clarke (Richard),a nd Deborah Crews (Thomas); devoted friends, Frank Zellous (Dorothy), Terrance Jackson, Jae Jackson, and Nancy Morgan; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
