Catherine Marie Johnson was born on April 28, 1960 in Cumberland County to Benjamin Franklin Scott Johnson and Julia Lee Johnson.
Catherine was educated in the Cumberland County School system and later went to Beta Tech to become a Medical Assistant. At an early age she joined Little Fork Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Pleasant View Baptist Church, where she remained until her untimely death. Catherine kept her faith in God and won her battle with breast cancer. Ultimately she lost her battle lupus and rheumatoid arthritis; however she never gave up hope or her faith. She was a fighter up until the end.
Catherine was a devoted and loving daughter and mother. She raised three lovely daughters. Catherine enjoyed giving service to others and was devoted to her family. She was always willing to lend her time and a helping hand. Her kind and gentle spirit was admired by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin F. Scott; her mother, Julia L. Johnson, her sister Patricia
Johnson and her nephew, Anthony L. Johnson.
Catherine is survived by her daughters; Gwendolyn D. Ford, Latoya Ford and Latisha D. Taliaferro; one brother,
Charles P. Johnson (Marie); three sisters, one devoted sister, Annette Scott (Gary), Lucille Scott (Larry), and
Cherlene Scott (Bobby); one granddaughter, Ikia Johnson; one grandson, Daevion Grayson; three nephews, Brian Johnson, Octavius Johnson, and Jaheim Scott; two nieces, Nancy Johnson and Cassandra Johnson; eight aunts, Gloria Carrington, Mary J. Carrington, Mary M. Carringtron, Roberta Harden, Nanny Johnson, Lenora Walton, Louise Johnson, and Mary J. Johnson; five uncles, Robert Carrington, Jack Carrington, Lawrence Johnson, Jr. (Brenda), Jimmy Johnson and Eugene Johnson; a special friend Eric Lacey, and a host of relatives and friends.
