The Life of Mildred Ann Walton
A Time to Be Born
Mildred Ann Vaughan Walton, daughter of the late Ed Vaughan and Irene Evans Vaughan, was born on May 9, 1923, in Tobaccoville, Virginia. She was the eighth of nine children.
A Time to Learn and A Time to Grow
Mildred's early years of education was in the public school system of Powhatan County, Virginia.
A Time to Love
She met the love of her life Henry Trueheart Walton. God blessed them with four children.
A Time to Find
Her Christian journey began early in life at Mt. Pero Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess, and served faithfully in the choir and on the usher board. In addition to her service at Mt. Pero, she was a dedicated servant at Hollywood Baptist Church where she became a Deaconess and sang in the choir. She was a devoted member of the Home Community Aid Club.
A Time to Die
Mildred departed this life on Friday, February 24, 2012, at her home in Powhatan, Virginia.
A Time to Cherish Memories
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Alma Colson, Queen Jones (Bennie), and Bernice Jones; ten grandchildren, Kevin D. Colson, Tamara Colson Isaac (Esteban), Celeste Jones Denson (Gary), Levelle T. Walton (Mamie), Dr. M. J. Colson (Doris), Kimberly Jones, Tonya Walton, Keith Jones (Jamie) Anthony Walton (Lillian), and Alvin Walton; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Nannie Fisher, Martha Caldwell, Alease, and Barbara Walton; two brothers-in-law, Mitchell Walton and Frank Caldwell; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends; two special Godsons, Jeremy Mayo and Justin Daniels; a long time friend, Elmina Brydie; and a special devoted childhood friend, Carol Drew Mayo (Bob). She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Henry Walton; son, Alvah Walton; granddaughter, Antoinette Walton-Keys; brothers, Marshall and Edward Vaughan; sisters, Vera Carter, Virginia Michaux, Ruth Starks, Alberta McKay, Sallie Sprauve, and Florene Mayo.
