Obituary of Raymond Lee Langhorne

Raymond Lee Langhorne was born on August 2, 1933 to Jesse Lee Langhorne and Rose Bell Trent Langhorne in Cumberland, Virginia. He was educated at Cedar Fork School in Cumberland, Virginia. At an early age, Raymond was baptized and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church where his membership remained. Raymond was a hard and devoted worker. He worked for Longwood University for 20 years and the Town of Farmville for another 20 years until he retired. Along with working hard, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and most of all dancing. He was a stylish dresser, making sure he was matching from head to toe. Raymond had a passion for socializing with family, friends, and even strangers. His famous saying were "Yesss Sir" and " I'm in good shape"; which he said until the very end. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Louise, Lloyd, Morris, James, George, Jr., and Jesse; a son, Alvin Langhorne; two stepchildren, Joyce Ann Johnson and Larry Johnson, and a grandson, Antwan Langhorne. On Sunday, February 5, 2012, Raymond departed this life at his daughter's home in Cumberland, Virginia. His memories will be cherished by one daughter, Mary B. Langhorne, two sons, Raymond Langhorne, Jr. and Ray Langhorne; 12 grandchildren, one devoted, Ebonie Aruaz; 2 brothers, Willie Lee Langhorne and Charles Langhorne (Alease); three sisters, Patty Langhorne, Betty Ann Langhorne, and Dorothy Mae Booker; 1 aunt, Alma Brown; one uncle, Levi Langhorne; one brother-in-law, Willie Lee Carter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
