Obituary of Jesse Claybourne Witherspoon

Jesse Claybourne Witherspoon departed this life on November 17, 2009. He was born February 28, 1921 in Bluefield, Virginia to the late Jesse Ludy Witherspoon and Florence Isabel Pleasants.
Preceding him in death were his brother, David Stuart Witherspoon and sister, Isabel Witherspoon Brown. Clay was married to the late Virginia Owens Brown who also preceded him in death in 1963.
Clay graduated from Graham High School in Bluefield, Virginia. He served four years in the Army during World War II and served in Italy, France and Germany. After the military he worked for the federal government in Washington, DC. until his retirement. For the past twenty-six years he has been a resident of Cumberland County.
"Uncle Clay" leaves to cherish his memories, one devoted nephew, George Armwood and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
