Obituary of Jackie Donald Hicks

Jackie one of eight children was born to Raymond and Dorothy Morris Hicks in Riverhead, New York on August 31, 1947.
He was educated in Powhatan County Schools. After school he joined the armed forces serving in the Vietnam War. Jackie received many service connected recognition and awards. They are two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, the Presidential Vietnam Citation Award, the Vietnam Air Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Jackie used his many talents and experiences during his ownership of The Venetta Grill and The Stafford Grill and also as a clothing importer.
Jackie was a member of several organizations; Masonic Mabuhay Lodge #59, Joseph I Staton Consistory-32, Amenophis Temple Shrive, Vietnam Veterans of American, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion- Post #10, and Beagles.
Sgt. Jackie Donald Hicks departed this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Angeles City, Philippines.
Jackie was preceded in death by his sister, Louise and brothers, Raymond, Jerry, Revell and Leon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Josefina; a son, Jarmell; a sister, Roslyn; a brother, Stanley; 3 aunts, Thelma Branch, Edna Brown, and Bertha Gray (Alfred); 2 sisters-in-law, Estelle Hicks and Barbara Hicks; Devoted friends, Kenneth Morris, Wilnet Scott, David Butler, Major Harris and Ron Harper of Petersburg, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
