Obituary of Daniel James Bacon

Mr. Daniel James Bacon, the son of Daniel "Buster" Bacon and Mary Brown-Bacon was born in New York on June 18, 1947 and departed this life on November 5, 2011 in Leesburg, Virginia. His formal education ranged from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and a private boarding academy on Long Island. These two diverse experiences provided Daniel with exposure to the vast differences amongst people of different races, economic circumstances and environments. His pride in being a black man and member of his community was undying. Daniel loved looking good, as exhibited in both his physical conditioning and attire. No matter what the occasion it was understood, and expected by those who knew him that he would be dressed to a level one couldn't help but be impressed by. Playing basketball, running, riding his bicycle all over the Bronx and Manhattan, listening to his large music collection were high on his list of passions. Cooking and savoring all types of good tasting foods, enjoying champagne and introducing others to new experiences also ranked high on his list of personal pleasures. Daniel was a good man who loved his family passionately. Honor and loyalty were characteristics synonymous with him. Everyone who knew Daniel clearly understood that he would go to any extent necessary when it came to ensuring those he loved were safe and had what they needed. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother, Virginia Brown, father, Daniel Bacon, mother, Mary Brown-Bacon;, 3 uncles, James Brown, Oliver Ladmirault, Gerald Mohamed, 3 aunts, Helen Mohamed, Ruth Bacon and Teddie Bacon, and several cousins including James Brown III, whom he loved like a brother. Daniel leaves behind to cherish his vibrant memory, 2 daughters, Charisse Burdette and Candace Dreher; 1 Son in law, Gregory Dreher, 3 grandchildren; William, Greg Jr. and Cydney, 2 Aunts, Ethel Ladmirault and Edna Perry, along with many cousins and friends.
